Wilderness Watercolor Camp Alaska, August 20-25 2019

Wilderness Watercolor Camp Alaska, August 20-25 2019

Backpack Alaska has teamed up with Nikki Frumkin of Drawn to High Places to explore and capture the beauty of the mountains with watercolors.

Much like backpacking, watercolor takes creativity, the spirit of adventure, and often takes you somewhere different that you originally envisioned. Fly into the Talkeetna Mountains with us for five days of true wilderness, surround yourself with some badass women and expand your artistic abilities. We will explore the wild and record our experience through watercolor on this backpacking trip for women.

  • Day 0: Your guide will meet with you before departure to double check your gear, go over the itinerary, and answer any lingering questions you may have regarding the trip.

Day 2-4: We will work our way over mountain passes, scree slopes, play in alpine lakes, and enjoy the silence (punctuated with laughter). Our guides have years of experience in the wilderness of Alaska and want to share their hard earned knowledge with YOU.

Our trip will focus on capturing both what the landscape feels like and what it looks like to create art that tells a powerful story of your adventure. Our mornings will start with an art prompt to guide us through our day. These prompts will serve as a jumping off point for group art instruction as well as independent work time. Each day will offer time for group instruction and well as moments for solo painting and practicing. Nikki will spend one on one time with every participant.
